Origins
MATA carries a unique spiritual and cultural setting. It brings people together around traditional equestrian practice, shared values and the humanistic heritage of northern Morocco.
With the introduction of the ELI Morocco Forum, the festival gains a new international dimension dedicated to entrepreneurship, leadership and investment, while remaining grounded in peace, openness and mutual respect.
MATA spirit
Heritage
At the heart of MATA is a traditional equestrian competition with a distinctive ritual object: the MATA doll. Riders compete with courage, precision and discipline, carrying forward a practice that is both sporting and deeply symbolic.
Ethics
MATA is more than a race. It expresses honor, beauty, restraint, hospitality and respect. The festival turns movement, costume, music and ceremony into a shared language of dignity.
Forum extension
The 14th edition introduces the ELI Morocco Forum as an international platform for entrepreneurship, leadership and investment, extending MATA’s role as a bridge between civilizations.
